England's Coach Tim Southee Unsure on The Ashes Participation
Tim Southee's last Test for New Zealand was against the English side in December 2024.
England's fast-bowling advisor Southee is currently evaluating what his involvement will be at the forthcoming Ashes series in the host nation.
The former New Zealand pace bowler is only likely to be available for the opening match due to his participation in the ILT20 tournament, which begins on December 2 in the UAE.
The 36-year-old, 36, took up a role as the English team's pace bowling advisor in the warmer months after claiming 391 wickets in 107 Tests for New Zealand.
Speaking as England's team for the opening of three Twenty20 games against New Zealand was named, he stated of his availability: "We're still working through that at the present time.
"We'll see the outcome over the next little while."
England pace icon Broad had stated the Australia team as their "worst team since 2010", but Southee was in no uncertainty over the anticipated challenge during the contest, which begins on November 21.
"In my view there's ever a bad Australian cricket team," Southee said.
"Our focus is firmly on our own objectives. In my opinion the quality of [England's] team that's heading out to Australia is brilliant.
"It should be an thrilling encounter, the Ashes. Not just [are|do] fans from both nations looking forward to it, I believe the entire cricketing community is."
However, before the English team travel to the city of Perth for the first Ashes match, they face the Kiwis in the city of Christchurch on Saturday.
